7/16/2015 0 Comments Nature of Ocracoke IslandOcracoke Island has many things that its tourists experience and one of them is it's many natural wonders. There is no land connection to the island so many of its animals have developed there. The wild ponies are descendants of the shipwrecks of Spanish ships on the way to the New World. Some animals, such as the ponies and cats, were brought to the island and settled in. While others came on their own. There are the truly unique such as the Ocracoke Artistic goat, pictured below. You will never see another one like it. Hope to see you next visit.
7/9/2015 0 Comments Spreading Your Wings When I am out on the boat and the wind is whipping through my hair,oh I hate my hair when its windy, I feel free. I don't think about the things that need to get done at home. I watch the seagulls and think about how they live. All they think about it how to get from point A to point B. They never say "how do my feathers look?" or "OMG the wind is tying knots in my feathers." or my favorite "Ewwe you smell like fish."
They take off and head the way the wind takes them. They hang out on the beach until some tourist disturbs their rest. Dinner is always a dive away. Not a bad way to live. But then reality and the responsibilities of life hits me and I think about what I need to get done for the day. Oh to be a gull.... |
